Blackjack is renowned to be a casino game that allows the players to beat the casino. This is the kind of game where the players have a chance to get back at the casino. An interesting twist to this is that the blackjack players are not dueling with each other, they are actually playing their own games against the house thus it turns into everyone against the casino type game.
If you're new to the game, well here's how you play it. Take note that learning how to play the game is not enough. New players should learn basic strategy in order to pull it off basically. We'll only go through the basics of how you play the game so you'll have a chance to experience how it feels to play a game of blackjack.
The game of blackjack can be played using one deck and even up to eight standard card decks. The suit of the cards don't matter in blackjack, what you're interested in should be the value the cards are given. Cards from two to ten score according to what face value they have in the deck. An Ace can be called a wild card, which either takes a value of 11 or one, depending on which value will be most helpful to your hand. All the pictures in blackjack score ten points.
The objective of the game is to beat the dealer's hand without scoring above 21. If you (or even the dealer) scores above 21 you bust and lose the hand automatically. Initially everyone on the blackjack table gets two cards. The dealer will have one of his cards dealt face up so everybody can see. You then make your own judgement if your hand has a bigger score after adding up the value of your two starting cards.
If you think that your hand scores pretty low you can ask for another card (called a hit). You then add up the new total with the new card. If you think your hand has a pretty good total then you stand, which means you won't take any new cards. If you're pretty confident that your initial hand is really that good you can double down, which means hitting just once and doubling your bet and then standing on the new total.
Another option is that you may split a pair of cards that have the same value. You then are dealt a card for each of your split cards and make a couple of new hands to play at once. Both new hands have an equal opportunity to win or lose against the dealer. Splitting also means you double your original bet, one for each hand.
If your hand (or hands) beat the dealer's then you win. If not, then you sit tight and play another hand in blackjack.
