Your Blackjack Winning Strategy

Here is some strategy to consider, when playing the game of blackjack:

1. Leave a Winner:

If you are ahead substantially, you must think of leaving the table as a winner. A painful thing to do is to be ahead by $1,000, and end up losing all that money down the drain. You can rationalize, and often players do, saying they only gave back the casino's money, not theirs. Oh, is that so? You mean that the chips in front of you aren't yours? That when you cash them in, the cashier at the cage says, "Hey, that is the casino's money. Give it back"? Of course not. It's your money, not the casino's. If you're winning, leave a winner.

2. Hit-and-Run Wins:

If you are winning slightly, but have played for close to an hour, it may be time to leave, to avoid casino scrutiny and heat. One strategical belief in blackjack is "hit-and-run". Win at one session, play again later on, preferably at another shift, where all the dealers and floormen are new.

3. Chat Up the Floorman When Winning:

If a floorperson comes along while you are winning, and winning substantially, it is not a bad idea to engage them in conversation. Admit that you are ahead. Tell them that finally your luck has changed for the better. You can mention a game at another shift, where you were buried the night before. They has no way of verifying this. It's the glum card-counters who look at every floorperson as an enemy who get barred. Be friendly and ask about the food in the joint. They will probably "comp" you, and whoever you are with, to a free meal, or maybe a show.

4. Don't Rathole Chips:

Never rathole chips. By rathole, we mean taking chips off the table and pocketing them during a session. Don't do this. It's a signal to the floorperson, or dealer, that you are disguising the fact that you are a winner. An ordinary player who wins is thrilled. A card-counter is thinking of heat, and trying to minimize the win. Exult in the win, the way the ordinary players do. It will minimize casino heat, or scrutiny from casino employees.

5. Play Only When Confident:

The same rules that apply to being tired, or feeling no confidence, apply to winning, as well as losing. If you are ahead, but are really tired, or if you suddenly have lost confidence in your play, or the cards (or whatever), get up and go.
