Variants of Blackjack

To make a new variant of the blackjack game there are certain rules are being changed. The changes, also attracts most of the novice player and it increases the games' house edge.

The Spanish 21 form of blackjack actually gives players a lot of liberal rules, like the doubling down on any card's number. This gives the player the choice to surrender or rescue only one of the wagers to the house with the right basic strategy; the Spanish twenty one actually almost has the higher edge of the house all the time than other comparable games of Blackjack.

The Double Exposure Blackjack is another variant which the cards of the dealers are both in a face-up position. This type of game increases the edge of the house through paying of money on the blackjack and on the players who are losing the ties.

Another variant is the Double attack of Blackjack which has much more liberal rules to blackjack plus the choice of increasing the wager of a player after the dealer's up card has been seen. This type of variant is based on the Spanish shoe although the blackjacks pay even money only.

The variant of the Blackjack for the German and French is called the "Vingt-et-un" which literally means Twenty-one and "Siebzehn und Vier" which means Seventeen and Four which does not include the splitting. The ace only counts as eleven, but the double ace counts as the Blackjack. This variant however is not commonly found in most casino houses, but it is played in the barracks or in the private groups or circles.

In Asia the Chinese variant of Blackjack is commonly played. It has no splitting of cards and carries other regulations on combinations of the card.

Blackjack switch is another version; this is the variant of the blackjack where the player will be dealt two hands. The players are allowed card switching. Lets take the example of a player who is dealt with a 10-6 combination and a 10-5, the player has the option to switch the two cards to create hands composed of 10-10 as well as 6-5. The natural blackjacks get the payout with the ratio of 1:1 instead of 3:2 which is the standard, and the push is the 22 of the dealer.

Recently due to the poker's popularity the variant of elimination blackjack has also gained a following. Elimination blackjack has a tournament format.
